On Friday November 10th, 2017, KPMG in partnership with Nation Media celebrated the 10th year anniversary of the Top 100 SMEs Award.
This night was particularly special for Cellulant. 10 years ago, when this journey started for KPMG- Cellulant was the first company to receive the pinnacle award; and our CEO Ken Njoroge was the entrepreneur of the year.
Looking back ten years? We have come far!
A less celebrated award that we received that evening was the “ICT- Industry Champion Award.” Looking back 10 years ago, we appreciate having been recognised for the innovation and the belief that technology could transform people, communities and even countries. We have seen this to be the case. Championing homegrown solutions for Africa has been a deep-seated value that drives much of what we do day to day.
At the 10th anniversary, our celebration came full circle. Cellulant was recognised for being part of the KPMG Club 101 as well as receiving an award on for the most innovative project Award for our work with farmers in Nigeria, Liberia and Afghanistan.
Accepting the awards, Cellulant Kenya Managing Director, Mr. Felix Munyi Nthigah stated, “Ten years ago our group CEO, Ken Njoroge, was on this stage accepting the Pinnacle Award as the Top Middle-Sized Company in Kenya. Today, Cellulant is in 13 countries, servicing 33 markets in Africa. We believe that it is our calling to transform payments in Africa by digitize payments for the largest economies in Africa. More so, it is our deepest belief that with Africans leading the way, our generation will lead Africa to its greatest era yet- solving the most challenging problems for our continent.”
